Course overview

The route spans from urban to rural in the hills rising behind Surayabanayak mandir. The start point is a 10 minute walk from Suryabanayak bus stop on the Bhaktapur road. You can visit Surayabanayak temple after the race if you like.
After a short section of road (take care) then climb into the jungle on a possibly slippery trail. The trail becomes very thin so fast running will end with you falling. The trail ends with you climbing steeply to meet a road. It becomes much easier. Follow the road for X km to a popular picnic place. You can see Pilot Baba temple which you are about to climb to. There is a slow steady climb on a good trail to the temple which becomes road – take care for vehicles. There is a check point here inside the temple, the fee is included. Take care for pilgrims. Don’t knock them over.
Follow the trail to the right up hill after the temple. It soon joins a ridge with much building work. Continue on the road to the end of the ridge and look for the right turn downhill. Enjoy the views. Keep left at a junction to climb steep up to small houses. Pass the yellow house and take care on narrow trails. After a short time you join a small road which continues down into the village. Look for a turn to the left off the main trail on to the old trail. Stay on small trails through fields – take care not to fall off the trail. There is a 1.5m drop as you walk along a field edge. Flowers here.
Continue into a small river and climb out after a cow on to the fields. Reach the road and descent just 10 or 20 m before a stiff climb which will feel hard after so much downhill running. Follow the red mud road before it descends on the old pilot baba trail to the bottom of the valley.
From here it is going to be some fast and flat running on trails and jeep track after a short uphill from the junction. After passing the army camp, it’s only 100m to the road – take care for cars and stay on right side. At the Y junction, follow left to the finish.
